How Leaving Your Hometown Can Change Your Life.

Sometimes leaving home isn’t running away; sometimes it’s survival. While we were at
Abyss Market LA, Straight Outta South Central Los Angeles,
EverybodyLovesDru
opened up about how stepping away from his environment not only saved his music career but also saved
his life. In his words, staying where he was would've limited him, drained him, and kept him boxed into a version of himself that wasn’t meant to last forever.
We sat down and talked about how growth required distance, how dreams demanded more than comfort, and how believing in yourself is often louder than any applause you’ll get from home. Dru shared how moving away from South Central forced him to evolve, to think bigger, and to pursue his music with clarity and hunger. The people around him wanted less, but he wanted more.
He talks about:
trusting your gut even when nobody understands the vision
outgrowing an environment that doesn’t feed your purpose
leaving comfort to chase something greater
becoming bigger than the circle you started in
Dru’s story is a reminder that sometimes elevation means relocation. Not everyone will see the dream, and that’s exactly why you must keep going.
Leaving South Central wasn’t just a move; it was a turning point. Dru took that leap and turned pressure into progress, proving that growth comes when you step into the unknown with faith. Now he’s building something real, something lasting, and something far bigger than the people who doubted him.
His journey reminds us:
You can’t stay small in a place that fears your growth.
Sometimes your future is waiting on the other side of leaving home.
